Privacy Notice

This notice explains, in plain language, what happens to the information you share with Ulula Labs through this website.

Who we are

Ulula Labs is the responsible party for the personal information described here. You can reach us at hello@ululalabs.com or at:

What we collect

When you use our contact form, we collect:

• your name
• your email address
• your company name, if you choose to give it
• the message you write to us

We do not ask for anything else, and you do not need to create an account to contact us. With your enquiry we also note the approximate country you wrote from, if it is known, and a shortened version of your IP address (see below).

When you browse the site

We count visits to this website so we can see which pages are useful. We do this on our own server, without cookies and without third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics. For each page view we record:

• the page you opened and the time
• the website that linked you here, if any (only its name, such as google.com), and any campaign tag in the link
• your approximate country, if it is known
• your device type (desktop, tablet or mobile) and browser name
• a shortened IP address: we remove the last part before saving it (for example 196.25.1.0 instead of 196.25.1.37), so it points to a network, not to you
• a one-day visitor code, made by scrambling the shortened IP address and browser details with a secret key and the date. It lets us count unique visitors for that day only, changes every day, and cannot be turned back into your IP address

When someone sends the contact form, we also record whether it went through or needed a correction, and which fields needed fixing, but not what was typed into them. We use all of this only in total, to understand how the site is used. We do not use it to identify you, build a profile of you, or follow you onto other websites.

How we use it

Your message is saved in our website’s secure admin system, given a reference number, and emailed to our team at hello@ululalabs.com. We use your details only to read your enquiry, keep track of it and reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list or use your details for marketing.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. The only other parties involved are the email and hosting providers we use to deliver your message to us and to run this website. Our visit statistics are not shared with anyone.

How long we keep it

We keep your enquiry for as long as we need it to respond to you and to handle any work that follows from it. When it is no longer needed, we delete it.

Visit statistics are deleted automatically after 13 months.

Your rights

Under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you can ask us:

• what personal information we hold about you
• to correct it if it is wrong
• to delete it
• to stop using it

To do any of these, email hello@ululalabs.com. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page.
